Our Focus

Origin Ventures invests cash and time to build successful businesses. We typically invest in companies at an early stage of development. This includes companies that have a well thought out business plan and a management team in place or identified.

We prefer to take an active role in advising our portfolio companies, although we generally do not become involved in day-to-day operations. Our participation is focused on assisting management with:

• Strategic planning
• Completing the senior management team
• Determining corporate policy and direction
• Subsequent financing
• Other areas, as needed

Our fund's typical investment size is $500,000 to $1,000,000. This can vary depending on the opportunity. The types of companies we seek to work with are front-end e-commerce enterprises, medical device companies, biotechnology ventures and other industries where we can add value.

We believe it is beneficial to be located near our portfolio companies. Thus, our geographic focus is the Midwest and our target is the greater Chicagoland area. We are specifically interested in furthering the development of technologies discovered at the University of Illinois and other similar institutions.
