Origin Ventures Expands Team, Hires Lindsay Saewitz to Lead Portfolio Network

Seasoned Entrepreneur will Deliver Even Greater Value to Firm’s Investments

CHICAGO, IL – Origin Ventures, a premier venture capital firm in Chicago, has announced the hiring of Lindsay Saewitz as General Manager of the Origin Ventures Network, a community comprised of Origin’s portfolio companies.

Saewitz will work directly with the portfolio and will be responsible for delivering valuable resources, facilitating a strong culture of cooperation, sharing best practices and connections, and expanding Origin’s educational event offerings.

This hire signals a strategic extension for Origin, expanding the breadth of the firm’s value offered to entrepreneurs. In addition to capital and guidance from Origin’s experienced partners, having a dedicated resource behind the Origin Ventures Network will help companies more successfully tackle business challenges that many early-stage startups face, like recruiting top talent and sourcing large clients.

“While we leverage our partners 50+ years of VC investing experience to help our portfolio companies, we recognize the venture capital landscape is changing. It is our belief that entrepreneurs will gravitate to funds that offer even more resources to help the company succeed,” said Brent Hill, Partner at Origin. “With a growing portfolio of innovative start-ups, we hired Lindsay to implement ways to better assist the portfolio.”

Saewitz brings to Origin a background in marketing, sales, recruiting, event planning, community building and entrepreneurship. In 2010, Saewitz founded CitySwarm, an event production and group buying company, where she grew a substantial community and produced over 150 events. She sold the company to Red Frog Events in 2014.

Prior to her startup, Saewitz held a variety of sales and marketing roles at local early-stage startups and CareerBuilder.com, one of Chicago’s long-standing tech enterprises. Saewitz also runs ChicagoKaraokeNight.com, a local directory of bars that offer karaoke.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Origin team and to work directly with our talented community of entrepreneurs,” Saewitz said. “As an entrepreneur myself, I know the difference it makes when you can share resources and learn from each other’s’ mistakes and successes. I look forward to learning from our network and providing value in any way I can.”

Most recently, Origin led a $3.5 million Series A funding round for Get Smart Content in Austin, TX and co-led a $5 million Series A round for Minneapolis-based TrackIF.
